Midhurst C of E Primary School has been at the heart of our community for over 150 years. Originally founded in 1865, the school began its journey in the buildings opposite the site where the Half Moon Pub still stands today. This rich heritage reflects our long-standing commitment to providing education rooted in Christian values and a strong sense of belonging.

As the town grew, so did the school. In 1972, our current building was constructed to offer modern, spacious facilities for a new generation of learners. Today, the main school houses eight bright and well-equipped classrooms, complemented by additional teaching spaces in our refurbished quad building. Our central location within Midhurst means we are easily accessible, and our extensive playing fields provide a safe, attractive environment where children can learn, play, and thrive.

Over the years, we have continually developed our grounds and facilities to meet the evolving needs of our pupils. From outdoor learning areas to our beautiful Sensory Garden, every improvement reflects our belief that children flourish in an environment that nurtures both academic and personal growth.

Introducing The Treehouse – A New Chapter in Inclusive Learning

In September 2025, we proudly opened The Treehouse, our dedicated Key Stage 1 provision designed for some of our youngest learners with additional needs. Nestled beside the Sensory Garden, this calm and welcoming space is led by our experienced SEN teacher, Mrs. Cook. Here, small groups of children receive tailored support to help them build confidence, develop essential skills, and access the curriculum in ways that work best for them.

The Treehouse is more than a classroom—it’s a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered. Mrs. Cook works closely with class teachers to ensure that learning in The Treehouse complements classroom experiences, helping children thrive both academically and socially. Our goal is simple: to make every child feel included and supported so they can reach their full potential.

Our Christian Ethos and Community Links

As a proud Church of England school, our values are rooted in faith, respect, and compassion. We are part of a wider family of schools and maintain strong links with Midhurst Parish Church. Our vicar, Marcus, is a regular visitor and an active member of our governing body, enriching our spiritual life and strengthening our connection with the local community.

Wraparound Care for Busy Families

We understand the demands of modern family life, which is why we offer both Breakfast Club and After-School provision. These services provide a safe, friendly environment for children outside normal school hours, giving parents peace of mind and flexibility.

Midhurst C of E Primary School is more than just a place of learning—it’s a community where history, innovation, and care come together to create an exceptional experience for every child.
