The national curriculum states that art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. Children at Midhurst Primary School will explore a wide range of techniques that will allow them to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.  They will be able to think critically and develop a good understanding of art and design and how they reflect and shape our history, contribute to culture and the wealth of our nation.

Throughout their time at Midhurst Primary School children will have opportunities to produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences. They will develop their proficiency in drawing, painting and sculpture alongside other different media and techniques. They will also reflect on the work of artists and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their work. Children will apply their newly developed skills and knowledge of art and design to larger class and whole school projects that are linked to our two year topic cycle.
