At our school we believe in the concept of lifelong learning – we are all learning new things every day! We aim to equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to make informed choices about the important things in their lives.

We follow a cross curricular approach and the Programmes of Study of the National Curriculum are taught through a range of topics. Visit topic cycle page for further information.

Threaded through our day to day teaching is the concept of ‘Learning to Learn’. We encourage children to reflect on the essential skills needed to be an effective learner. These are organised as ‘5 Rs’: Reflective; Resourceful; Risk-Taking; Resilient and Relationships.

As part of our Forest School programme, all children get a chance to participate in outdoor activities each year. Forest School is a process that offers children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experiences in a woodland environment. At Forest School children have time and space to develop their whole being – physical, social, emotional, language and intellectual – through practical, hands on activities.
