Midhurst C of E Primary School

On Friday 18th November, Mrs Clarke’s class organised a ‘Pudsey’ Day to raise money for Children in Need. The day was a great success, with lots of competitions, own/spotty clothes and a cake sale. We raised over £440! Wow!

Well done to everyone in Year 6, and those Year 5s who helped too. Thankyou to everyone who supported the day to help make it such a success.

Thank you to everyone who supported this term’s Book Fair. We made over £300 in book commission, which we used for books to go in classroom book corners.

Midhurst Primary School has been nominated int the ‘Best School’ category of the Midhurst & Petworth/Chichester Observer ‘Community Awards’ competition.

Our OFSTED report has been published today and is available to read online (see links on our Home page and ’Parents’ page). We are pleased with our Overall ‘GOOD’ grading – the report highlights our many achievements and successes. Thanks to all parents who returned questionnaires and to the children for their excellent attitudes during the inspection.

Midhurst Primary School had its latest OFSTED inspection on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th September. The children were praised for their fantastic behaviour and attitude. Well done. We look forward to sharing the outcome and report with you when it is published.

We are pleased to welcome Miss Hannah Maxfield onto the teaching staff. Miss Maxfield is a newly qualified teacher from the University of Brighton. She will be teaching Year 4 this year.

We are thrilled with the work that has been going on over the summer break. Our new library and computer area is finished and looking fantastic! All classes are settled in their new classrooms (now all with doors!). Work on the Key Stage 1 outdoor area has started this week.

After our blast of snowy weather last Thursday and Friday, we will be pleased to open as usual on Monday 6th December!

We were thrilled to receive a cheque for £300 from Kavanagh’s Budgens last week. Mr Kavanagh presented the cheque to us in a special assembly. This generous donation will be used to further enhance the school grounds. We have developed close links with Kavanagh’s Budgens. They are also providing us with all the ingredients used in Cooking lessons, and are producing special recipe cards for us. Thankyou!

We are pleased to announce that the Governor’s have successfully appointed Mr Matthew Barnes as the new Headteacher of MPS, from September 2010. Mr Barnes is currently the Headteacher of two schools in Devon.
